Who or what is Flagstaff Cohousing?
We’re a group of six households who plan to create Flagstaff’s first cohousing community. Cohousing is an intentional community in which private homes are clustered around shared space. For our group, the commitment to community – connecting with and supporting our neighbors, reaching agreement by consensus, and respecting one another – is paramount. We envision a multi-generational community that integrates families and individuals of all ages.
We intend to create a balance between our private lives and engagement in our community and the world, and our ultimate community design will reflect that intention. In cohousing, each attached or single family home is typically smaller than most single family homes and has traditional amenities, including a private kitchen. Shared spaces typically feature a common house with a large kitchen and dining area, children’s playroom, laundry, and recreational spaces.
