Meeting of Understanding

As the final interactive step of the membership process, we invite prospective members to meet with several members of the community for a Meeting of Understanding.  This is a crucial step, and we ask that all adults in your household and any other members you wish to include will attend.  It’s most helpful if we can hold this meeting in Flagstaff; however, if you and members of your household have already visited here, we can arrange the meeting as a video conference.  The meeting should be approximately 90 minutes to two hours long; however, we are happy to extend that time to be sure we fully address your questions and concerns.

This is an opportunity for us to have a dialogue about your expectations of community life and to review the community’s expectations as well.  Our objective is to help you to determine if Flagstaff Cohousing is a good fit for you.

To prepare for this meeting, we ask that each adult member of your household considers the questions below.  The questions will provide a starting point for our discussion, so it’s not necessary to write out your answers.  We do, however, encourage you to bring a list of your questions and concerns so that we can be sure to cover all of them.

We will also ask you to carefully review information about financial and building procedures as that information becomes available.
