We moved to Flagstaff from Los Angeles in 1988 with our daughter Katie. We’ve found a community where relationships enrich every aspect of life, professional, personal and civic, and where one person can make a difference.

Karen – In working to create a cohousing community here in Flagstaff, I’ve met people who want to bring their gifts to a more closely connected life. I’ve always focused on connection and communication – in my personal life and my varied work experience as a marriage and family counselor, Montessori preschool teacher, computer systems analyst, and fundraiser for our local NPR station. The issues I’m most committed to are early childhood literacy and domestic violence prevention. As a member of the Flagstaff Threshold Choir, I find joy in singing for and with people at the thresholds of life – even via Zoom. I love to travel, read, dye silk, do water aerobics, connect with family and friends, and cook.

Maury -- 71 -- Married 35 years with an adult daughter.

Work: Real estate investor/escaped attorney with a focus on adaptive reuse of commercial buildings and interest in historic preservation.

Hobbies: Reading sci fi and history. Started jogging when I turned 60.

Goals: Still working full time but working on a new balance of work and fun!

Sue has loved living in Flagstaff for the last 40 years and has certainly seen it grow during this time. Sue raised her family here, and her adult children have now returned to live in Flagstaff with their own careers, because it is such a great place to live. After working as a health care administrator for many years, Sue began her business as the owner of Journeys Around the World travel 16 years ago because of her lifelong passion for travel. What she loves most about her work is creating magical travel experiences for each client, and seeing their travel dreams come true. Besides travel, Sue loves nature, hiking, and all that Flagstaff has to offer. Sue has joined the Membership and Property teams and, since her official business title is Director of Fun, she brings a lot of enthusiasm for connection and good times!
